With inclusion now a standalone Ofsted judgement and the government’s Every Child Achieving and Thriving white paper mandating all-staff SEND training from this year, the question for schools is shifting from "why" to "how."
Introducing Oak Bank’s accredited SEMH suite: a tiered pathway from foundational understanding to whole-school leadership, designed to turn policy ambition into classroom reality.
Our courses are tiered by role and designed to be completed in sequence:
All staff – including apprentices and lunchtime supervisors – start with foundational SEMH training.
Progression ensures every team member shares a common baseline of knowledge and language.
Leaders who complete the entire suite gain full visibility of the training their staff have undertaken.
Credibility at the core. This suite is designed and delivered by Oak Bank School , a school that doesn't just teach SEMH—it lives it. Rated ‘Outstanding’ by Ofsted across three consecutive inspections (2015, 2019, 2024) and named a DfE National Behaviour Hub, now established as a RISE Behaviour & Attendance Hub partner. Oak Bank (Leighton Buzzard) is nationally recognised for transforming the lives of children with complex social, emotional, and mental health needs .
Upon successful completion, staff receive an accreditation mark to display at the bottom of their email signature. This mark is valid for three years, after which an updated course is expected to be completed to renew the accreditation and keep practice current.
The following tiered courses have been designed to equip the school workfoce for inclusion in 2026 and beyond. Courses should ideally be taken sequentially ensuring that staff.

Oak Bank Foundation Certificate in SEMH Practice 2 hours - £45

Who’s it for: All: learning support assistants, teachers, SENDCos, pastoral support, lunchtime supervisors, supply staff, learning mentors, transport for AP and special school.

✔ Neurosequential approach: Regulate → Relate → Reason
✔ Functional analysis for busy teachers
✔ Classroom adjustments that actually work
✔ Relational practice and repair
✔ SEMH Teaching Toolkit
Who’s it for: Teachers, Behaviour Leads, HLTAs, SENDCos and Senior Leaders.
As these are tiered qualifications, please note, this course is only available to our Foundation Certificate Graduates.

Who’s it for: SENDCOs, HoY, Behaviour and Pastoral leads, DSLs, Headteachers, Senior Leaders and MAT Operations Lead. As these are tiered qualifications, please note, this course is only available to our Diploma Graduates.
